Sir David Attenborough and Ida
Visitors at the Natural History Museum in London may now see a cast of Ida (Darwinius masillae), a 47 million year fossil scientists believe is the link between primates and the rest of the mammals.
The cast was donated by the University of Oslo Natural History Museum. The original Ida was also at the NHM for a few hours last month where scientists had a look at the most complete ancient primate skeleton ever found.

Look at National Geographic News about this. I’d like to point out that it’s still a primate. The video said it’s not an ancestor….just that an ancestor “may” have looked like this.

It is indeed an early primate and indeed we are not direct descendants (Ida is more like a great aunt one scientist said).
The significant aspect is the fact that she is considered a link between primates and the rest of the mammals through some earlier mammal traits that it had, while also presenting primate traits.
